Who is Rula?

Rula Shubeita was born in the old City of Jerusalem to a Christian family that has had roots in the Holy Land for centuries. Originally a teacher, she now works as a guide for Christian pilgrims from all over the world. Rula witnesses the Bible and Christian spirituality in the Holy Land and brings alive the three Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

Committed to celebrating people’s similarities and differences expressed in different cultures and traditions, Rula frequently participates in interreligious delegations in the Holy Land and overseas. She believes that justice, reconciliation, and love are fundamental to living in our world today.

On October 2, 2010, during the Catholic Women's Conference in San Antonio, TX, Rula presented a talk entitled, "A Christian Palestinian Woman: A Voice from the Holy Land." In it, she gives an impressive account of the state of Christians living in the Holy Land and the interfaith efforts of women living there - all from her personal experience.
